Mako <3's Bhakti Chai

Walking through the streets of Boulder, CO was akin to seeing the world through new eyes. What a concept. A community that almost fully embraces the organic, mindful, local supporting ethos.

Observing this atmosphere I couldn't help but wonder if the collective positive energy of it's inhabitants had any correlation to the towns infrastructure, and you can bet that I will be dedicating a chapter in the book, "En Title/Lighten Ment" to further exploration of that concept.

But I digress -

Again, we were walking down the street: unkempt, unshowered, and for the most part, unrested. But those thoughts were lost on us as we took in the colours and energy of our surroundings. I didn't even notice the collected sweat on my brow until I heard the voice of a young man enquiring if we would like to try some ice cream.

This man, could see right through me. Entering in the life of Mako - Bhakti Chai.
After receiving some samples, we hung out at the tent and interviewed the representatives who offered great facts about the company, their mission, and their products.

- Founder Brook Eddy traveled to India in 2002 to study a social justice movement based on Bhakti (or devotion through social action). Along the way, she fell in love with the aroma and flavor of the spicy masala chai ubiquitous to northern India. Unable to find a brew back in the States with quite the flare she began brewing her own at home. This spicy authentic chai soon became quite a hit with her friends and neighbours. Not long after, she decided to make her home brew into a business.

A passion not just for delicious free-trade, organic, GMO-free product, but also a passion for inspiring others to find zest for life and social justice. You bet this company falls within the boundaries of Mako.

The particular product they were marketing on this hot Colorado day, is a ginger infused chai ice cream. You first moment experiencing this ice cream you will melt with the creamy chai flavours as they sooth the mind. Next a feeling of invigoration with it's fresh ginger after taste. The only words able to leave my mouth after quickly finishing the sample. "This ice cream kicks ass."
So much so, that we now proudly sport a "Bhakti Chai" on the back of The Mako Mobile.

Though this company is native to Boulder, their products can be found semi-nation wide in Whole Foods. Follow the link to their page at the bottom to learn more about this awesome company, and find stores with their product near you!
